April is the month of the Military Child (MOMC)
Purple Up All Month Honoring our Military Children for the sacrifices they make each and every day living the military lifestyle. MOMC was first established in 1986 by Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger. There are currently 1.2 million children of active duty members. 2 million military children have experienced a parent's deployment since 9/11.
