A former Ruckel Ram himself, Alan Anderson has called Ruckel Middle School home since 1993. During that time Alan has been selected as Okaloosa County’s Outstanding First-Year Teacher (1993-94), coached sports including baseball, football, and cross country; served as grade and department chair; and taught both 7th and 8th grade science. Mr. Anderson’s style of teaching favors a hands-on approach which in the past has included building roller coasters, water- and air-powered rockets, solar heaters, and egg launchers.

A 1993 graduate of Fort Walton Beach High School, Ms. Barron originally studied Journalism at UF. After earning her Master of Education degree from Auburn, she completed post-graduate coursework in literacy. While teaching in Alachua County, she was accepted into the Ed. D. Program at Florida. Ms. Barron has been teaching English full-time since 2007, and previously worked in our district at both Destin Middle and Fort Walton Beach High Schools as a reading and math remediation instructor. In addition to her secondary instructional experience, she taught elementary school in Gainesville, and studied musical theatre in New York City. Ms. Barron has served as a model classroom for the Okaloosa County School District, as well as an English Department Chair (2016-2018) and Cross Country and Track coach at Destin Middle School (2014-2019). When she is not teaching, Ms. Barron enjoys spending time with her family, running, and performing with the NWFSC Symphony Chorale and Stagecrafters Community Theatre.

Ms. Boles began her career in education teaching middle school math/science and counseling students in the Virginia Beach SECEP Re-Education program for students with emotional disabilities. Re-ED is founded on the belief that children can be taught to manage their behavior and learn new solutions for living in the community. She later moved to Florida where she taught middle/high school reading for a dropout-prevention program focused on credit recovery. She then taught middle school ESE/VE for Walton County for three years before joining the staff at Ruckel. She is excited to be a part of the Ruckel team and looks forward to helping students achieve their goals.

Mrs. Bruse has over thirty years of music experience, including a twenty-year career base established with conducting student music ensembles. She grew up in Okaloosa County attending Valparaiso Elementary, Ruckel Junior High and Niceville High schools. She first learned clarinet at Ruckel when she was 11 years old, and continued on into the "Eagle Pride" Band at Niceville High School. She understands how important music is in Okaloosa County, and feels fortunate to be able to give back to its children all that was offered her. She has taught Music Appreciation at the college level, simultaneously directed over 300 students on the football field and in the concert hall, as well as having directed basketball pep bands, musicals and select vocal and instrumental ensembles at the primary, secondary and collegiate levels. Bands under her direction have consistently received straight superior ratings at district music performance assessments. During her three years as the Assistant Band Director at Ruckel, she contributed positively to the growth of the band program and its students by transforming storage rooms into practice rooms, implementing SmartMusic Computer Assisted Technology, and cataloging the 855 piece band music library onto Excel and Charms. Mr. Chambers was selected to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Professional Educators Network of Florida, a non-union professional association for educators. He is also the Boys and Girls Golf Coach at Ruckel. Mr. “C”, as his students call him, loves teaching the WHY of History.
Mr. Chambers has visited 86 countries in his travels, and brings those experiences to his classes. Mr. Chambers formerly taught at Ft Walton Beach High School and was an adjunct Professor at OWCC (NWFSC). He has been at RMS since 2003.

Mrs. Cook is passionate about science andis grateful she became a Ruckel Ram in 2014. She has been working in education in some capacity since 1996 and holds a BA in Biology and German and an M.Ed. in Secondary Science. Previously, she taught science at both the high school and community college levels. She also worked as the Director for Student Leadership at Converse College and as the Director of Student Development for the Oxford Campus of Emory University – she received awards at both institutions for her service to students. When she's not teaching, Mrs. Cook enjoys being with her family, traveling, photography, and being outside. She believes science is best when it's hands-on, so she includes labs and elements of music, movement, and creativity to her teaching.

Mrs. Eller began her public teaching career at Choctawhatchee High School in August of 2000. She joined the team at Ruckel Middle School in January of 2006. Prior to her receiving her degree from TSU, Mrs. Eller devoted herself to early childhood education. She is a devoted wife of more than 33 years, 26 of those years as a military spouse where she and her family traveled extensively. She is the mother of two; a son in the U.S. Air Force and a daughter who's employed with L-3 Communications and the grandmother of four. Outside of teaching she enjoys football, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Mr. Feazell is happy to serve the community as the middle school chorus director for Ruckel
Middle. He formerly served as the North MS chair for Teachers Workshops and All-State Elementary Choirs. Christian has an extensive history of performance credits. Mrs. Fisher is new to Ruckel this year and is excited to make this her best year yet! She graduated with her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education K-6 from Northwest Florida State College, and will be obtaining her master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida. Mrs. Fisher taught for four years in Walton County, was the Teacher of the Year at her school last year, and a top three finalist in Teacher of the Year for Walton County! Her effervescent spirit is contagious inside and outside the classroom. During her free time, she enjoys canoeing, hiking, dancing, running, reading, traveling, and cooking. Mrs. Long is a life-long resident of Okaloosa County. She has worked in the Okaloosa School District for 39 years. Mrs. Long began her teaching career at Destin Elementary School as a Specific Learning Disabilities teacher. Changing career paths after eighteen years, Mrs. Long was a Guidance Counselor at Elliott Point Elementary School before transferring to Ruckel Middle School as a Guidance Counselor in 2003.

Coach Love is a 1990 graduate of Houston Academy in Dothan, AL, where she attended from kindergarten through graduation. She enjoyed playing different sports including volleyball, basketball, softball, track and she was also a cheerleader. Her two older brothers were athletic and she followed in their footsteps and grew to love being active in sports. Because of that, she obtained her college degree in Physical Education and hopes to instill a love of an active lifestyle in her students as well! Coach Love began teaching at Ruckel in 2018 after working as a stay-at-home mom for many years to raise her four daughters. Outside of Ruckel, she is on the Advisory Board and serves as Administrative Assistant for the Emerald Coast Chapter of The National League of Junior Cotillions. In her spare time she enjoys watching her girls who are majorettes on the University of Florida Gatorette line and the Niceville High School Eagle Pride line. She also enjoys interior design, relaxing with her three cats and spending time outdoors on her family's farm in Alabama.

Ms. Love began teaching at Ruckel Middle School in 1996. She taught 8th grade science and pre-algebra for two years before moving to 6th grade to teach science and gifted. She taught in Okaloosa County for nine years before moving to Georgia where she taught 4th grade language arts, social studies and reading. Ms. Love joyfully returned to teach once again at Ruckel in 2012 where she now teaches 6th grade science. Ms. Love has coached academic team, dance team, and Speech and Debate Team.
Ms. Love loves teaching middle school and feels that it is an honor to be part of the Ruckel Middle School family! In her spare time, Ms. Love enjoys taking her grandchildren to the beach, gardening, reading and scrapbooking.

Mrs. Marello is a product of Okaloosa County Schools. After graduating from Florida State University in 1997, Mrs. Marello began her teaching career in January of 1998 at Niceville High School, where she taught 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students for 18 wonderful years. She was blessed with the opportunity to become a Ruckel Ram in 2016 when her husband became principal at NHS. Mrs. Marello was chosen as Okaloosa County's Beginning Teacher of the Year in 1998, received National Board Certification in Secondary English Education in 2009, has been designated as one of the State of Florida's High Impact Teachers for the last two years, was chosen to be Ruckel's 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year, and was Runner-up for Okaloosa County's Teacher of the Year in 2020. She currently serves as the ELA department chair and sponsors the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. When she is not teaching, Mrs. Marello enjoys attending her children's sports and activities, traveling and spending time with her family, reading great books, going to the movies, cheering on the Rams and the Eagles, and catching up with her former students!

She continues to strive to increase her knowledge base to make her classroom an optimum learning environment where her students are encouraged to be the best they can be. Mrs. Nall serves as 8th grade lead teacher, Academic Team coordinator for the district, and Gradebook manager.

Kayla Nutt is a proud product of the Okaloosa County School District and is a graduate of Niceville High School. She played softball at Florida State University and Jacksonville State University where she graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In 2019 Mrs. Nutt earned a Master's degree in Education Administration from California Coast University.
In 2010 Mrs. Nutt began her teaching career in Okaloosa County at Bob Sikes Elementary. After leaving to teach in Alabama for four years, she returned to Okaloosa County in 2015 and taught at Plew Elementary, Florosa Elementary, and Lewis School. She was a guidance counselor at Lewis School before coming to Ruckel Middle School.

Mr. Olson graduated from the University of West Florida. He grew up in Wisconsin and is a Green Bay Packer cheese head. Mr. Olson has lived here since 1992.

I am the Italian teacher at Ruckel Middle and Niceville High. I have been a teacher since 2015 and love what I do! I get to see the students growing from the middle school age, all the way to their high school years while I teach them about my country and my language. After school, I enjoy spending time with my family and cooking. I am a mom of three children, two teenagers and my youngest is only three years old. Given his special needs, I am very conscious as a teacher to address all the various needs of my students to make sure they reach their full potential.

Mr. Smith began his teaching career at Baker High School. He has also tuaght in Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, and Maryland. He was Teacher of the Year in 1990 at Tate High School, Pensacola, FL. He taught the past seven years at Destin Middle School before coming to Ruckel. He has also served on the Florida Department of Education Reading Committee for FCAT the past six years. Mr. Smith has been educating young minds for 27 years, and nothing challenges him more than learning with his students.

Ruckel Middle School, she has served as the English Department Chair, peer teacher, and is currently serving her fifth term on the School Advisory Council.

Mrs. Tabor loves being a member of the Ruckel team and enjoys helping her students learn more each day. As the proud wife of a retired U.S. Air Force officer and the mother of two former Ruckel Rams, she enjoys traveling, visiting the beach, and crafting.

As the proud wife of a retired U.S. Marine, Mrs. Tomassetti is privileged to have taught high school for seven years in both Arizona and Maryland before remaining at home with her children for the next 14 years.  She is very excited to be a Ruckel Ram and looks forward to helping students achieve educational goals and strong foundations in Spanish! She is also the lead sponsor of National Junior Honor Society.

Mrs. Vargo is delighted to be back at Ruckel in a full-time ELA position. She is a former student of Ruckel and Niceville High School, and her two children are students at Ruckel this year. She has lived in many places, and she taught middle and high school ELA in South Florida. She was also the Storytime Teacher at the Niceville Public Library for a for a few years, and she continues to review books for the Florida Library Youth Program (FLYP). In her spare time, Mrs. Vargo loves cooking, crafting, and travelling with her husband and children (especially to Harry Potter World).

Mrs. Waldhour is excited to be returning to Ruckel! She teaches Algebra I Honors and Math 3. She challenges her students to never give up and to always have a positive attitude. She hopes that her students will develop a love for math just as she has. She loves being a Ram and hopes her students will too.

Mrs. Wargo has been a teacher in Okaloosa County since 2004 and has been at Ruckel since 2016. She has a passion for Science and loves teaching and learning new things with her students. Mrs. Wargo is the Chairperson for Children In Crisis. When not in the classroom, she enjoys training for and running triathlons.

Geoffrey Watson returns to Ruckel, and is a product of Okaloosa County schools.
He has worked with both middle and high school students for years at Niceville United Methodist and at First Presbyterian Niceville. He has a passion for kids, education, and continuing the tradition of excellence that Ruckel Middle School has established. He is also a Yearbook Staff sponsor.

Certification: 5-9 and 6-12 Mathematics, National Board Certification in 2006

Mrs. Watson began teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Algebra Honors and Geometry Honors at Ruckel in 2002. She has coached the Varsity Academic Team, Knowledge Masters (KMO) Team, and the Varsity Math Team. She received the Edith May Slyffe Award for Excellence in Middle School Mathematics Teaching in 2003; 2004 Who’s Who Among American Teachers and in 2006 she was Ruckel’s Teacher of the Year. She also served as the Mathematics Chair for RMS. Her philosophy on education is simply put. “I believe that as an educator, professionalism is that pursuit of improving the future of our Country and our World. It is a selfless act that individuals participate in to ensure no child is left behind.

Chorus Aide
Mrs. Yen is originally from California and moved to Niceville in 2009. She believes Choral music provides a feeling of belonging and offers many opportunities for learning and responsible engagement with others. She has volunteered for the past six years in the Choral program at Ruckel and NHS. Asssisting Mrs. Tredway and the students be successful gives her great purpose and joy.
