Congratulations to Yvonne Michna, NWF Ballet Academie Assistant Principal, and Gary Taylor, Baker School Assistant Principal
The Okaloosa County School Board approved the following new administrators at the May 9, 2022, School Board Meeting: Yvonne Michna as Assistant Principal of Northwest Florida Ballet Academie and Gary Taylor as Assistant Principal of Baker School.
Yvonne Michna, Assistant Principal of Northwest Florida Ballet Academie
Yvonne Michna is a proud product of the Okaloosa County school system. Following high school, she attended the University of West Florida where she received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education as well as a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Michna has taught Kindergarten through Fifth grade and her passion for reading lead her to be a reading teacher and Literacy Coach for several years.
Michna has been an administrator in our district for over fifteen years. She has been an Assistant Principal at Pryor Middle School and Meigs Middle School and for the past eight years she has proudly served as the Principal of Longwood Elementary School. She gains most of her strength from her husband, her three grown children, and her five beautiful grandchildren.
Gary Taylor, Assistant Principal of Baker School
Gary Taylor is a graduate of Crestview High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades English and Social Science from the University of West Florida and received his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Beginning his teaching career in the Okaloosa County School District 18 years ago, Gary taught and coached at Baker School. He went to Davidson Middle School as the Assistant Principal later moving to Bruner Middle School as the 12-month Assistant Principal.
Taylor has been married to Donna Pettis Taylor, a School counselor at Eglin Elementary School, for 38 years. They have four children: Ross and his wife Olivia, Kelsey and her husband Eddie, Andrea, and Jonathon, as well as nieces Madison, and Isabella Cain, whom they have raised as their own. All their children are graduates of Okaloosa County schools. Gary and his family reside in Baker.
Gary would like to thank the Bruner Middle School administration, faculty, and staff for 6 marvelous years and wishes them much success in the future. He is honored with the appointment to Assistant Principal at Baker School and is committed to the students, parents, faculty, staff and administration at Baker School.
