School Board Approves New Administrators – Congratulations to Lynda Bush and Sarah Kennedy
The Okaloosa County School Board approved the following new administrators at the September 13, 2021, School Board Meeting: Lynda Bush, Specialist, Budgeting and Financial Services and Sarah Kennedy, Assistant Principal (10 Month) at Riverside Elementary School.
Lynda Bush - Specialist, Budgeting and Financial Services
Lynda Bush is a lifelong resident of Okaloosa County, and the daughter of two longtime Okaloosa County residents, Ron and Betty Hart. She and her husband, Ryan, have been married almost 25 years and they have two adult children, RJ (22) and Jenna (20). Bush began her career when she and Ryan became business owners in a joint venture with her parents. They have owned Medley Printing, Inc. in Fort Walton Beach since 1997. During the time she was an active owner at Medley Printing, she gained valuable hands-on experience in business accounting, operations, and management. While working to establish and grow Medley Printing, Bush earned her bachelor’s degree (History) and master’s degree (Business Administration) at the University of West Florida, as well as completed an additional 27 hours of accounting and auditing courses.
In 2006, Bush ventured away from the family business when she accepted an accounting position at Lundy and Bowers CPA where she gained experience in full charge bookkeeping, tax preparation, and auditing. After leaving the public accounting industry in 2010, Lynda became an accountant and office manager at Legacy Insurance. While at Legacy Insurance, some of her responsibilities included preparing annual budgets and monthly financial statements, facilitating financial meetings, assisting in quality control of policies/procedures, and finding ways to minimize costs and increase efficiency. In 2019, Legacy Insurance was acquired by Acentria Insurance. Lynda remained with the company, accepting a staff accountant position with Foundation Risk Partners, the corporation that owns Acentria Insurance and numerous other insurance agencies nationwide. Her primary focus while at Foundation Risk Partners included auditing internal transactions against third party documents, ensuring timely payments to external insurance carriers/brokers and establishing and maintaining positive relations with both internal and external members of the company and the industry.
In addition to her work experience, Bush had the honor to serve the community as both a past president and past secretary of the Crestview Rotary Club. She has learned and embraced many practical concepts through life and work experiences that shape her to be the motivated person and leader she strives to be. Some of those concepts include “change is the only constant in life so embrace it”, “never stop learning”, “a problem is simply an opportunity to overcome” and “everyone is valuable and plays a vital role on a team.”
