Riverside ES and Shoal River MS Participate in Walk to School Day

Several schools throughout the District participated in the “Walk to School Day” initiative on October 2, 2019.  This year, Superintendent Marcus Chambers, and School Board Member, Tim Bryant, walked with the students, staff, and administrators from Riverside Elementary School and Shoal River Middle School.

The Elementary and Middle School students gathered on foot and/or bicycles at 7:30 am to prepare for the 20-minute walk to the schools. Over 75 students, family members, and faculty walked through the neighborhood surrounding the school to begin their day.

Nearly 4,500 schools nationwide participated in the event this year including locations as far off as Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. “Walk to School Day” is coordinated by the National Center for Safe Routes to School and more info can be found at walkbiketoschool.org.
