The Parent Leadership Council, comprised of parent leaders throughout the district, meets with Superintendent Dr. Alexis Tibbetts on a bi-monthly basis. Council meetings are designed to provide information of interest to parents district-wide. Talking points are emailed to attendees to help them in sharing information with their respective groups.

The new teacher evaluation model focuses on the four domains of the Danielson Frameworks of Effective Teaching, formal and informal evaluation instruments, summative and formative observation forms, lesson plans, self assessments, reflections, professional development, communication practices and more. FCAT results determine how well students are performing against the Sunshine State Standards, a specific set of academic expectations and teaching requirements covering writing, reading, math, and science. FCAT Explorer can help students strengthen the critical skills tested on the FCAT.

School News!
Kindergarten registration will occur during the period of March 22 and April 9, 2012. Florida law provides that any child who will be five on or before September 1st is eligible for kindergarten that school year. It is extremely important that new kindergarten students be registered beginning March 22 for the fall (August) school opening.

Kate Kemker, a Southeast Education Development Executive for Apple, Inc., was on hand last week to show teachers how to use some of Apple’s newest technologies, like the iBook’s Author program.
The iPad’s hands-on learning activities engage students with individualized instruction and as well as giving them opportunities to work on collaborative problem solving. It has taken interactive learning to a whole new level. Read More!
